The Ann Murray PTA Clothing Bank
The Ann Murray PTA Clothing Bank was established in the late 1950s to solve a major truancy problem – some students were not in school because their parents were unable to provide suitable clothing. In recent years, the clothing bank has provided clothing to over 3,000 children per year. We have two clothing bank locations and all students served are referred by a the student’s school Guidance Counselor or Social Worker. A referral form is required for service.
Volunteers and clothing are always needed to keep this service alive. BCCPTA/PTSA requests local units to help us keep the clothing bank open by organizing clothing drives in their school or community. There is also a county-wide drive held at least once a year and units can donate annually to the clothing bank when they pay their annual County dues.
Both clothing bank locations are open during the school calendar year until Memorial Day. They are not open during school holidays or on teacher workdays. The Clothing Bank is coordinated by the Clothing Bank Committee under the direction of the Clothing Bank Chair.
